India is celebrating it’s 69th Republic Day this year. We are celebrating this every year since January 26, 1950, on this day, the Constitution of the country came into effect. This is one of the 3 national holidays of the country, other 2 are Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti which falls every year on August 15th and October 2nd, respectively.
When we celebrate Republic day with proud, we should also remember the struggle of all the freedom fighters who left everything behind to make this day possible. Like Lal Bahadur Shastri had once said. “We believe in peace and peaceful development, not only for ourselves but for people all over the world,” we all should work for the development of the Republic of India jointly.
What is Republic all about?
Republic means self ruled nation. Republic day honors the date on which constitution of India came into picture. The constitution of India was approved by Constituent Assembly of India.
India got it’s independence through the historic Indian Independence Act of 1947, an Act of Parliament of the United Kingdom that divided British and India into two. On 15th August 1947, India became independent but still the country did not have it’s own constitution and laws that ruled the land were still based on the colonial Government of India Act of 1935.
I believe in India because we have great country, and because we have the opportunity to make all our freedam dreams come true with the help of Indian Soldiers.
